When I went to the vet the other day I was anxious to find out how much my cat weighed. I had high hopes for my doughy friend and he didn't disappoint. He weighed in at 18.4 llbs and managed not to be labeled obese by a medical professional (I love chubby cats but I don't want him to have health problems). While I was overwhelmed with pride in regards to his weight, I was also semi-disappointed by his behavior when the lovely veterinary assistant tried to cut his nails. It took five people to accomplish this "meager" task.
Since then we've settled our differences and have had several make-up cuddles. I am greatly anticipating spending my day with my portly little gentleman.

1. I went to the DMV the other day (remember this is a government building), and there were these two men outside with an Impeach Obama stand...they had flyers with Obama sporting hitler facial hair and things of this nature I don't want to mention.
2. A young father at the mall with a can of beer in the cup holder of his baby's stroller. This guy didn't even have the common sense to attempt to camouflage his illegal exploit with a koozie.
3. I was in the back of the car with my grandparents when we passed a man taking a stroll while pissing. Although I was somewhat in awe of this man's multi-tasking abilities (he didn't even pee on his shoe), I was a bit uncomfortable explaining to my grandparent's why I said whoa. My explaination; "We just passed a gentleman urinating while walking on the side walk."
4. I was walking into a store when out of nowhere the mannequin in the front greeted me. This may not have been so disturbing if the mannequin in question didn't turn out to be an actual man. (he was wearing women's clothes, and perfectly applied make-up. while i have no problems with cross-dressers this particular one scared the shit out of me for obvious reasons)
5. While driving with my mom and nine year old brother I spotted an object I couldn't place tied to the truck in front of us. Upon further inspection we came to the conclusion that it was a hand with unusually long brown nails, it wasn't halloween so this was somewhat startling.

Different conversations (most short) from my life
Mom-Am I getting tanner?
Me-A little, am I getting more freckles?
girl-Where did you get your red hair from?(I am the only redhead in my family)
Me-My Dad's beard I guess.
Girl in my class(from middle school)-Is all your hair red?
Me-Is all your hair black?
Girl-I look so tan next to you.
Me-I look so short next to you.
Girl-Who dyed your hair it's so pretty.
Me-God?
An observation from a fellow kindergardener- Your hair isn't red it's orange!
Can't think of anymore right now.

I was walking on a bike trail today and discovered a useful benefit of my aversion to sunscreen and the sun (like most of the ginger species).................having lost my enthusiasm for running I found myself sprinting through the parts of the trail that weren't sheltered from the sun. As a result I went twice as far. I plan to exploit my new discovery as much as possible in order to get in better shape. Brunettes and blondes might be able to tan but i would rather be healthy, and I am quite satisfied with my tendency to freckle.
Other Benefits
feeling a kinship with random strangers (other gingers)
a sense of uniqueness
an irrational feeling of a connection with the weasleys (hp)
striking hair : )
a visible reason to celebrate st. patricks day
a greater bond with ginger animals (cats, dogs etc.)
.............
