I really like a band called The Tillers they are based in Cincinnati, Ohio and have gotten alot of local recognition. On Sept. 16th they will be opening for Ramblin' Jack Elliot at The Southgate House in Kentucky...should be a Great show

Heavily into Irish trad (born into a very musical family in Donegal), and still fiddling a lot at home and at the local pub (ceilidhs). Currently raising three young kids, and already hopeful they will follow our example, even though they are only four months old at this time... ;)
So... Tommy Peoples, Liz Doherty, Altan, Danu for me... Great to see all these young people taking up traditional styles and building on it in new and exciting ways ! :)
That song by the Tillers is sweet. Anytime you've got an upright bass and clawhammer banjo in the same band you've got a recipe for success. I'll definitely check 'em out if I get the chance. My favorite band for the last 7 years has been Trampled by Turtles from Duluth. Bluegrassy folk from Minnesota. They're touring all over the U.S. so you should check 'em out if you can. I've also been a huge Bob Dylan fan, which led me back to Woody Guthrie and a lot of traditional music. Good to see some people keeping traditional music alive and lovin' some sweet Roots music!
Peace,
johnny
