I'm not much of a musician, but I do play 5 string banjo in a finger pickin style! Not very well I must admit, but i've just moved to a city and I now have a tutor. Previously I have taught myself from books and tapes, which only gets you so far. I play Irish and bluegrass and my musical influences range from Earl Scruggs to the Pogues, I also love most forms of Rock, Soul and just about anything with a discernable melody! Any other Banjo pickers out there?

hey! i play banjo too! i'm not very good at picking or clawhammer, i've only been playing a little less than a year. i would like to start learning how to pick... i guess youtube will be my best friend!

i suppose my banjo inspiration comes from more indie-folk musicians, although i am from the south, and bluegrass is in my blood.

Good luck learning to pick, I found it easy, but I can't strum very well? Go figure that one out! Took a looksy at your profile, I'm going to check out some of those indie folk groups. I like unusual music, but pure jazz bores me stiff. I live in an artsy area of Bristol and there is music going on somewhere most nights. I am looking on it as my personal mission to check out as much of it as I can, I just hope that my liver can cope!
