Aub90's blog
My alias around the 'net are as follows:
facebook:
twitter:
Musical alias' on Trax: www.traxinspace.com/profile/vorta001
Youtube:
Email (public...everyone may as well have this):
My website: www.redhead-gathering.com
My small forum: www.redhead-gathering.isgreat.org
My main site will remain, of course, along with my forum. The main site is for advertising redhead events and will continue to do this regardless of my position here.
My email and facebook account are for direct communications to me after my activity here diminishes. Twitter is what it 'says on the tin'.
Youtube is the original posting place for my music, which I eventually changed to trax....trax is an audio only music streaming/sharing site. I'll probably be spending a lot of time at trax as I make more music in future. Less time will be spent at youtube, since this is the only site where I need to embed a video rather than an audio link....well....yay....less bandwidth used to upload the videos when I don't need to.
I'll also post on my profile that I am due to become less active very soon....and a link to where I can be found there , higher up in the profile arrangement.
Regards to all. See some of you later, I guess.
I now have synth music online. It can be found at: Vorta001 (direct link). Yes I am a fan of the Star Trek Vorta. Weyoun is my favourite. I have been called a Vorta before, probably because my hair is brown-ish, I'm pale and I have luminous eyes! Surely the attitude doesn't match though! (or does it?)
hehe.
Everything is happening right now! Site, forums, music, writing (router breaking down, but that's a negative...and no wonder with all this). It's amazing.

Well folks. My joyful internet surfing days have come to an end at the worst time. My modem/router will not switch on anymore (even though once a little flicker of light came from the ethernet area when I switched it on). I will try again tomorrow, but I really can't afford to pay £50 for a new box (and wait a week) or send it back (and wait 4 weeks....). I am on my expensive pay and surf vodafone usb, so I can't view videos and it charges me by the second (and blocks a lot of sites). It is terribly unreliable too, as we are not in a good 3G area. £15 for 1GB....not good for me. I hope my modem is just being temperamental and it switches on tomorrow....otherwise I'm doomed.
Edit: I've ordered a new router. Should be here in 3-5 days. It cost £62, but it is because my ISP requires certain settings so I had to find one of these elusive routers! I could have got the £32 one, but I'd rather pay more and get a better quality internet connection than suffer with a poor one. :) My ISP requires a security key only (WPA2-PSK), it doesn't have a sign-in page like my old ISP.

2010-06-21: Links at the lower part of this page to my main site and the forum for redheads who love computers! It is also for those non-redheads who like computing, but who also admire redheads.
I took what JP said and finally found a way to use a site in order to spread the news for the event. I have a premium domain....my own....so this should be great as long as it isn't ranked too high on a google search when google finds it. See, it's a free host so I can't have floods of visitors.
It's nothing flash, just basic information on the homepage....and I also took on the task of advertising sponsorship, plus just general spreading the word.
The nameservers were not having any of it at first
, but then I changed my tired, holiday brain into my technical mind and sorted it out. B)
Awesome news. I am also following redhead-world on youtube, with the commons page (it's a little nickname I created for my site a while back....it really does store just links and stuff on other pages!....hehe).
So I'll see you all around later when I finally get some sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep....the cat is snoring (lol...she really is) ....I think I should go and get some rest too. If I can stop listening to this awesome music....and here's hoping I don't have a dream about NAMESERVERS!
This is good news right....(don't bring me down now!
)
LATER ALL!

Go to the forums link....then click on the link on that page named 'visit here'. It takes you to my small forum. Woohoo!
A new social network for redheads is in the late planning phase, due for launch in July 2010. The new site is NOT competition for the existing networks, it is more focused in nature and could actually help out the existing networks at some point.
I can't give too much away at this point, but I would just like to shout out to everyone about helping out with the new site during and after the building phase. With there only being one admin, it is kind of difficult and I would like to enquire if anyone would consider helping out with anything.
If you want to know more, please PM me; or write on my guestbook. Contact me via any method you wish. Site construction starts sometime in the next two weeks, depending on the number of helpers I have and how smooth the host setup process is. Oh....and I am paying for the hosting/domain of course. I have that part planned already.

As the title says. Any suggestions are also welcome. The event could have run this year, but there isn't really enough time and there is not enough funding this year.
Issues:
-
The timing of the event: Late July seemed to be the best time because: it could bring more tourists to England for their Summer vacation (if informed early enough), it just avoids the hayfever season (Mar-early Jul generally), it avoids the September Roodharigendag, avoids the Derby and Grand National events & also a few other festivals around the same time. The British schools tend to start their Summer vacation just before the event will run.
-
The site: An outdoor themed event requires warmer weather. It also requires quite a large site. There are a number of public parks being 'looked at'. Some areas have larger fields, but these are quite a distance from the towns. The objective is to make it as easily attendable as possible. The public parks pose an issue as they are near to neighbourhoods, although they are along the main transport system (e.g. main roads and highways).
-
Money: There is not enough money or time to organise this event this year. However, it leaves more time to fully plan an event and make it more disaster-proof. Hopefully, the extra time will allow for more people to be informed; better assessment of possible issues and collection of more funding for 'other things'.

There seems to be a general pattern for these events, that photographs are taken at historical buildings. Although the park in mind is on a fairly good transport link, it is 3 miles away from the second venue (main town hall). The bus journey is generally straightforward, 18 minutes or so; with a walking time of 10 minutes from the central bus station. There should be 2 hours between the end of the first event and the big finale, to allow for any delays. During this time, visitors can explore the central gallery, theatre or just look around the town/shops. There could be some fun to have on the bus journey (should visitors choose to travel by public transport), as the other travelers would probably not have seen so many redheads and there could be a repeat of another event which happened in the past (the redheads on a train!). Bear in mind that each bus only holds around 60 people, so seperate group journeys may be needed. But this makes it all the more fun.
-
Planning and preparation: UK councils are difficult to please when it comes to event organisation and will try to find any issues with the event. I will talk through this with someone later, as I don't want to hint too much straightaway.
