Help: Profiles
Help: Profiles
Profiles are where you get to learn more about other Redhead World members and your own profile is where you get to tell everyone about yourself. You can share photos and write about things you like. On other members' profiles you can write on their guestbook at the bottom of the profile - the most common form of communication. You can also rate a member, rate their photos, friend them, favorite them, and much more.
Redhead World profiles are highly customizeable with layers of semi-transparent colors and graphics. Not only can you set a mood through the profile design, you can help find others with common interests via Members | Advanced Search where you can search by all profile sections or even by keywords of profile descriptions.
Viewing Other Members' Profiles
View Profile
Profile Photo Gallery
There are many sections detailing the interests, characteristics, and likes/dislikes of a member on their profile, but there are some blocks you should be aware of. The member's primary photo and profile photo gallery are shown in the upper left; clicking on their photo will take you to their profile photo gallery. You can switch between the pictures to view and rate them both on the profile or in the gallery. Note that the profile photo gallery is seperate from the member's main photo gallery (where other users can leave comments on photos).
Profile Ratings
Below their photo is the rate bar. You can rate a profile on a scale of 1-5 stars. Members that get enough votes within a certain period and with high ratings will be shown in the highest rated block of the homepage. You can vote as many times as you like, but you can only vote once per week for any given profile.
Actions Block
Below the rate bar is the Actions block. Here there are links to:
- Send Letter - Send a private message to the member. They will also be notified by e-mail.
- Fave (Hotlist) - This saves the member to your hotlist, available in My Account | My Contacts. The other user will be notified and given the option to hotlist you too.
- Befriend - Become friends with the person. The other member will receive the request and can accept or deny. Once accepted, you will show up as friends in each other's profiles. You'll also see mutual friends when visiting other profiles. Additionally, if you choose to set an e-mail notification option to friends-only, you will still get e-mail notifications when your friend performs that action.
- Greeting - Sends a quick friendly notice (sometimes known as a wink, nudge, or poke) to the member. They'll be prompted to return the greeting. You can greet members more than once too. Greetings received and sent are shown in My Account | My Contacts.
- Profile Photos - This is an alternate way of viewing the profile photo gallery. The other way is to simply click on the profile photo.
- Share - You can share the profile with someone by e-mail using this form. Note, since profiles are private and shown only to Redhead World members, the person will either have to be a member or join Redhead World.
- Report - This button alerts the administrators of this user - usually to report spamming. Please contact the administrators with further information regarding the problem the user is causing.
- Block - If you would prefer to not interact with a user, you can block them. The blocked user will be notified and will not be able to perform certain actions towards you anymore. Please report any harassment to the Redhead World administrators too. To unblock a person, look in My Account | My Contacts.
Guestbook
The first 6 entries of the member's guestbook (sometimes referred to as a wall) is shown at the bottom of the profile. This is the most common form of communication between Redhead World members. Click on "Write on Guestbook" to write a guestbook message to the member, who will be notified by e-mail per their settings. For private messages, use the "Send Letter" option instead.
Photos Gallery
The Profile | Photos Gallery option takes you to all the photos the member has uploaded to the main photo system. These photos are rateable and you can also leave comments. Members can sort photos by ratings and even favorite photos they like.
Blog
The Profile | Blog link takes you to the member's blog, if they have one.
Guestbook
The Profile | Guestbook link takes you to the member's full guestbook.
Member Friends
The Profile | Member Friends page shows the names and photos of all the member's friends.
My Profile
View Profile
You can view your own profile by clicking "My Profile" at the top right of any page. Here you can see what your profile
looks like and make changes to it and your account. At the bottom of your profile or on your guestbook page you can read and reply to other member's guestbook entries.
Note that your friends list does not appear to you when you look at your profile; it only appears when other members visit your profile. You can see your friends list on your My Account page, the My Profile | My Friends page, or even the My Account | My Contacts page.
Edit Profile
This is the same page as the My Account | Settings page. Here you can change your e-mail and password or even your username (but we discourage changing your username as it makes it harder for others to find you). This page has all the information sections of the profile and text entries where you can fill out information you'd like to share with other members.
Profile Photos
Here you can view your gallery of profile photos. You can select a photo you've uploaded and click "make primary" to make it the primary profile photo. It will be displayed on your profile and be used as the icon avatar throughout the site. You can also delete photos you no longer want to display or disable ratings on a photo (these photos will not show in the rate photo section).
To upload a photo, click the "browse" button to find a photo file to upload. Enter a title above and then click the "submit" button to upload the photo.
Customize Profile
A great way to convey yourself to other members is through color and images. You can change the colors, fonts, and background image of your profile on the Customize Profile page. At the top are options for either setting a background color or uploading (or deleting) a background photo. The colors for various parts of the profile can also be set such as the links and main font.
The profile has a Body layer that flows from the top to the guestbook with covering most of the background except at the sides of the page. You can set the color and opacity of this layer to blend with the background. Set the opacity to 0% to make it clear.
The next layer up are all the various boxes of the profile. The Box Title Color sets the background color of the box title's background and the font adjusts the color of the box's title. The Box Color sets the color of the box's main body and the Box opacity sets the opacity of the box body. This will blend through to the Body layer and even the background if partial opacties are set. Like the Body layer, set the opacity to 0% to make the box clear.
The Embed Playlist section can be used to embed custom HTML or widgets into your profile. You can add a link to your website or blog here. The link will take you to Playlist.com where you can create a playlist and copy/paste the code to this block. It's possible to put other playlists or widgets here, as well as embed a YouTube video or playlist.
The "Save Changes" button will save all changes. "Reset" can be used to revert back to the default profile customization settings. Be sure to view your profile to make sure everything is still readable and looks good.
My Friends
This page shows the names and photos of all of your friends. If you have a lot of friends, use the pagination controls at the bottom to page through the list.
My Guestbook
This link takes you to your full guestbook. All entries (up to the most recent 100) are shown here. Pagination controls at the top and bottom allow you to page through multiple pages. You can delete an entry using the delete button. Clicking on the photo or username of an author will take you to their profile; clicking "Reply Here" will take you directly to their guestbook where you can then "Write on Guestbook" to write a reply.
