Groups

Groups provide a special forum and gallery for members interested in specific topics.  They can be customized for private forums, and members receive notifications on new group forum activity.

All Groups

The main group page shows the group categories with the number of groups in each.  There is an interface to the simple and advanced group searches and a listing of the most popular groups ranked by membership.

Search

Group search lets you find a group by name or keyword while also specifying country, category, or city.  This is a handy way to browse for groups based in a particular country.

My Groups

My Groups shows all the groups where you hold membership.  Any groups that you created are also tagged with "group creator."

Create Group

If there is no group for a particular topic or focus that you feel would benefit the community, you can create a new group here.  (Please browse and use group search to see if a similar group already exists).  Enter a descriptive group name and the appropriate category.  The country and city are really only needed for geographic groups, so just enter your own if it does not matter.

The group title is a short caption that briefly describes the group.  The group description provides a more detailed description.

Open Join: We highly suggest you keep this set to "yes."  Only groups that are intended to be private or are having membership issues should set this to closed.

Hidden Group: A hidden group will not be visible to members who don't belong to it.  We again suggest keeping the group unhidden.

Additionally, the ability for members to post images or invite new members can be set.  After entering the captcha security code, press "submit" to create the new group.

Group Page

The main page for a group has the title section, group membership, and latest forum topics.  All of the group functions can be accessed from here.

The title section shows the group creator, member count, creation date, group type, description, and other statistics.  The group photo is shown in the upper left with a link to the group photo gallery.  Members (or sometimes just the group creator) can upload images here to share with the group.  Members may be able to invite other friends of members, post a new topic, or resign the group.

The membership and latest topic sections shows a sample of the topics and members.  Links are provided to see all members or forum topics.

Group Forum

The group forum works just like the main Redhead World forums.  Refer to the forums help section for full details.

Additionally, new forum topics will result in an e-mail notification to all group members to avoid group activity going unnoticed or stale.  This can be set to "friends only" in the My Account page.
